Why do we need a new happy birthday song?
The current happy birthday song requires Film, TV, and Theater Producers as well as Restaurant Owners and anyone else who might have a public singing of "Happy Birthday" to pay a hefty royalty. Ever wonder why some restaurants will sing "For He's A Jolly Good Fellow" instead? This is why.
"Happy Birthday My Friend" is being given to the world FREE. For movies and TV shows it would be nice if you included in the song credits that the author was Mark Allen. It's "vanityware!"
What can YOU do?
Audio record yourself singing it and let us post it.
Videotape yourselves singing it at a party or use it in a movie and let me post it. (Post your clips to any website which allows sending me embedded links including www.youtube.com, www.grouper.com, www.blip.tv, and many, many more!)
Make harmonic variations of it and let us host new midi files and new sheet music samples of the music. Or make improvements to our own.
You can do with it whatever you want!
